Zorya Luhansk center back Andriy Yanich shared his impressions of the past part of the season:
-"The first six months went well for me. We did not lose 7 matches, so we can put this period in our asset. It was not difficult to adapt. Everyone helped me, besides, there are a lot of Balkans in the team.
-You didn't play in the starting lineup for some time, then you became the main player of the Black and Whites. What has changed in your attitude during this time?
- First of all, I needed some time to adapt. Then, I found myself and was able to concentrate more on training, on the game and help the team. The most important thing is that the head coach believed in me. I will try not to let anyone down.
- What is the most important quality of a central defender, in your opinion?
- A defender must give the team stability, confidence that everything is fine behind him. In addition, if you are physically fit, you can win more duels and martial arts.
-Is height important for a defender?
-Height matters, but it is not the main quality of a defender. It is important, just like for a striker, to always be where you need to be, to choose the right position on the field and to communicate with each other.
-What matches would you say we lost points in?
-There are a lot of such matches, in fact. "Kryvbas, Obolon, Veres, Oleksandriya, Shakhtar... We could have gained at least five more points in the table. But these are things of the past. The main thing is not to stop, to work and continue to progress.
-By the way: what does the defensive line need to work on so that there are more matches in which we do not concede?
-We need more communication in the defensive line. I have been in the team for a short time. It's difficult when you don't speak the same language as the other defenders. Roma Vantukh speaks Ukrainian, Jordan speaks Portuguese, Juninho and I can understand each other in English. But we are all trying to learn the language. We just need more time and more matches together to play better, to understand each other even without words. We are striving for this and we are getting there. We have time to work on all this in Turkey at the training camp.
- How are you spending your vacation?
- I didn't have any special plan. I spend time with my family and my girlfriend. I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone peace, a calm, quiet New Year. I wish the war in Ukraine to end. This is the most important wish.
