Zorya Luhansk head coach Viktor Skrypnyk on his return to the team and the prospects for the Black and Whites:
-First of all, we congratulate you on your return to Zorya.
-Thank you, my emotions are extremely positive. You could say I came home. "Zorya is the first team in Ukraine that I have coached. It has always been in my heart. A person who has been at a club for a certain period of time always has a part of that club. I always followed the Black and Whites. I had other teams and I follow them as well, but Zorya is Zorya. This is the time when people in the country got to know me.
I knew where I was going, they also know me here, so I'm glad I managed to return to the team.
How big is the potential of this Zorya team?
- When a team plays well against the leaders, takes points from Shakhtar, Dynamo, beats clubs fighting for European competitions, and then loses points where everyone thinks Zorya should win, it speaks about psychology.
We can conclude that our players know how to play and win. My task is to unlock this potential and find stability. It all starts with the head. I repeat - this is also a matter of psychology.
We held the first training session. I am satisfied with how it went. There is a desire, and this is the most important thing, because if the players have no desire, no coach can help.
- In your opinion, which position needs to be strengthened right now?
- In general, our team is not bad. But any club is always improving. Barcelona wants to improve, so does PSG and others. "Zorya is the same way. We are trying to strengthen our positions to compete. We signed center back Janic, who will create competition for Jordan, Basic and Eskinje. It makes no sense to take someone else. If we do, it should be for reinforcement only.
That's why there are training sessions, after which the coaching staff can sit down, think and make the right decision.
- Some"experts" say that you can't enter the same year twice. What can you say to them?
-If you give examples, you can find a lot of them, when both the coach and the player return to the team 3-4 times. For example, Claudio Ranieri, Carlo Ancelotti and others. There is nothing wrong with that. I don't think we are rewriting any football history with this. This is everyday life. Everything worked out exactly as it should and I am happy about it. I hope to benefit Zorya.
